About Us
We are not just asphalt; we are much more!
Commercial Asphalt Group is a company with over 30 years of experience in asphalt, landscaping, and commercial building services. We provide services for a multitude of companies with not only parking lots that require asphalt paving, seal coating, infrared repair, crack sealing, traffic marking, and drain repair but landscaping, snow removal, and commercial building services as well. We provide our services in Northern Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin and continue to bid on contracts for commercial asphalt at all levels throughout these states.
Our company is the leading asphalt provider in the state of Illinois. This means always having the best and most efficient facilities, processes, and people. This is why property managers and company owners prefer our company due to the newest technologies our company has to offer.
The following is a detailed explanation of the services we provide.
Asphalt Paving
If an asphalt surface has been neglected and water infiltration through cracks and holes has begun to undermine the substation, the most effective form of repair would then be to remove and replace it. Paving is four or more inches of bituminous asphalt or “hot mix”. The primary purpose of pavement is to protect the subgrade. As the loads get heavier, the pavement thickness must be increased. Generally speaking, bituminous concrete (hot mix asphalt) has little real load-bearing capacity of its own until it reaches a thickness of two inches. In the Midwest, the Asphalt Institute has a firm policy of recommending six inches of stone base (bedrock), two inches of bituminous asphalt, which is a wearing course, and one and one-half inches of surface course. Seal Coating
Asphalt should be seal coated every 2 to 3 years, depending on the amount of traffic. It is not recommended to seal coat new asphalt during the first 12 months. This may cause asphalt to soften and prevent it from curing. Seal coating will enhance the appearance and preserve the life of your asphalt, as well as protect your asphalt from oil, gas, and other harmful fluids. Unsealed asphalt may dry out and become rough, thus reducing its useful life. For more information on seal coating, please contact one of our sales associates.
Infra-Red Repair
Infra-red Repair is most commonly used for damaged asphalt areas, potholes, catch basin repair, etc. This method is not only cost-effective but gives your parking lot a “seamless” heat repair patch so that water cannot penetrate the seam. This is an alternative method for removing and replacing old asphalt and, best of all; it can be driven on within 15 minutes of initial repair.

Crack Sealing
Crack sealing is caused primarily by the effects of the sun and moisture. Treating the problem when it is still small will pay big dividends later by delaying costly resurfacing. Crack sealing is often used as a first defense against pavement deterioration because it offers several important benefits. Effective crack sealing keeps water from entering and weakening these areas. This weakness can result in loss of structural support, which can result in additional cracking or faulting (vertical differential settlement at the cracks). For more information about crack sealing, please contact one of our sales associates.
Traffic Marking
A parking lot is the first thing that customers, clients, and visitors see in a facility. Traffic Marking/Striping is the finished touch on a freshly paved or sealed parking lot. Since striping is the most noticeable part of the parking lot, it is imperative that the job is neat and efficiently laid out. Striping should never be considered the end of maintenance. All surfaces, especially those made of asphalt, need to be maintained continually. Rather, striping indicates that all surface repairs are complete, and the pavement is ready for efficient use. The color contrast of a newly striped lot is attractive and shows that the property owner emphasizes maintenance. Storm Sewer/Drain Repair
Catch basins are primarily used to collect pavement runoff and act as a junction for a storm drain system. There are many different variations of catch basins and other sewer elements in parking lots. Water vaults and many other structures can cause difficulties in parking lots. To provide proper pitch for drainage, catch basins often need adjusting. Once the asphalt perimeter has been removed, the proposed area will be excavated as needed, and a new concrete superstructure will be installed. Drain tile is run to the appropriate places, and the area is backfilled, leveled, and paved. For more information on catch basin repair, please contact one of our sales associates.
